What is Medicaid Funeral Assistance -
Medicaid funeral assistance is not designed to celebrate traditional funerals. It is designed to ensure that a deceased person is given the respect of a final disposition. We understand that very often families are also in difficult financial situations. Therefore, we assist these families by offering abbreviated services that fit within the strict Medicaid guidelines.
There can be no contributions beyond this amount, under any circumstance! Please do not ask for a way to add, exceed, or bypass this amount; this would be Medicaid Fraud; and we will deny service to you, or your family. If you would like a traditional funeral, then you cannot take the Medicaid allowance. The next of kin will be executing a statement to the deceased’s County Medicaid Office, declaring that the deceased persons had no assets. If there is a bank account or other asset, Medicaid will either seize that asset or deduct that from the $2246; requiring that amount to be paid from the source to the funeral home.
