Selena Threet

Selena F. Threet, of Raritan, NJ made her transition on Monday, June 17, 2024, following a brief illness. She was the beloved mother of Gabi, Gary, and Gerard, whom she shares with Gary Redden. Selena was born in Buffalo, New York on December 8th,1965 to Ralph and the late Virginia Threet. She was the middle child of 9 siblings. In 1983, Selena graduated from Saint Joseph's Academy High School. Soon after, she began her undergraduate studies at St. Bonaventure University, studying as a student-athlete, concurrently representing Delta Sigma Theta sorority. After completing her Master's degree in 1989, she took residence in Brooklyn, New York. Selena's colorful career accomplishments were primarily established at Brooklyn College, where she served a twenty-eight year tenure as a Computer Science professor, ending her career as Chief Laboratory Manager. Selena was a frequent traveler, visiting 20 foreign countries in her lifetime. She was also an avid reader, art and book collector, but above all else, she was a dedicated mother.

Selena is survived by her siblings Teresa, Alonzo, Paul, Edward, Mark, Jason, Huey, Corey, her lifelong friend Michelle Wade, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.

Today we begin the celebration of Selena's essence and life in her transcendence. A memorial service will be held at Marrocco Memorial Chapel, on Monday July 1st from 10 AM to 12 PM.
