Ruth Elizabeth Coppola

d. April 19, 2021

Coppola, Ruth Elizabeth, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on April 19. She was born during the 1920s to Emma and Anthony Diskeawicz in Little Falls, NJ. She was predeceased by her husband, Modestino, (Musty) in 1984.

After high school, Ruth worked as a seamstress and later as a sales assistant in home décor and women’s fashions. Primarily, she enjoyed being a homemaker. She liked to cook lasagna and chicken cacciatore that she learned from her Italian mother-in-law. On family birthdays, everyone looked forward to her homemade strawberry shortcake.

Ruth loved dancing and was a member of the Happy Tappers Dance Group. She has created beautiful knitting and ceramic pieces and needlepoint art. She was fond of animals and pets, especially Theo.

Ruth was close to her daughter, Joan and husband Bob Ferris of Fort Lee, NJ. She cherished spending holidays and visiting with her granddaughter Pamela Muller and husband Keith, Upper Saddle River, NJ and adored her great grandchildren, Nicholas and Brooke. Similarly, her grandson Rob Ferris and wife Marie, Bryn Mawr, PA and great grandchildren Will and Rory were centerpieces in her life.

She looked forward to hearing from her son, Dr. Robert J. Coppola, wife Iris, San Diego, CA and receiving their thoughtful gifts. She liked Face Timing with her grandson, Roberto Coppola, wife Paola and adorable great grandchildren, Manny and Bianca, Las Vegas, NV. The flowers and plants sent from granddaughter Tracey and husband Patrick, Denver, CO were always admired and displayed.

The seventeen years Ruth spent at Cedar Crest rounded out her life by being the source of many friends, parties and activities, such as cards and rummy cubes.

Ruth’s family will forever be indebted to the kind, loving and comfort care provided by her home health aides, Regi and Pinky from Assisting Seniors at Home.

Private funeral services have been arranged by the Cremation Society of NJ, in Clifton. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa Borough, NJ. Donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to Pet ResQ Inc.; www.petresqinc.org or Venmo @petresq.
