Richard Billets Sr., 90 went home to be with the Lord January 13, 2020. His journey to his final resting place occurred at his home in Ringwood, New Jersey, as he wished. “Rich” is survived by his son Richard Billets Jr., daughter Pam LeGall, grandchildren Eric, Kyle and Kelly, three great- grandchildren, his brother Edward Bandarek, dedicated son’s in law Len LeGall and Patrick Bailey, along with multiple nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his wife of sixty-five years, Lucrezzia (Barilla) and daughter Melanie Bailey.
Richard was born in Passaic, NJ September 30, 1929 to Mary Magor and Jack Billets. He married Lucrezzia Barilla in 1950 and moved to Ringwood NJ in 1964 where he shared his love for the outdoors, gardening and animals with his family. Richard served in the U.S. Air Force. He possessed an exceptional work ethic and worked at Hartz Mountain as a pet supply route salesman until he retired in 1994. Richard was an avid fisherman, skilled at fly fishing, and shared his passion with his children and friends. As an active early member of the Cupsaw Lake community he helped to establish the yearly fishing derby. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Church where a memorial mass will be celebrated with family and friends February 1st at 12:00PM. The family would like to express sincerest appreciation to Dr. Kenneth Lubansky for his exceptional and compassionate care, Valley Hospice nurse Sharon Isaacs and all whom assisted in his independent living in the comfort of his home.
