Nordia Latoya Wright was born on January 28, 1983, to Vancie Hazel and Horace Eldemire in Saint Ann's Bay, Jamaica. Nordia's delight in learning and childhood development translated into obtaining a degree in early childhood education at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. Nordia met her husband, Verrion Wright, in a school program called TORCH in 1999, where they got to know each other and established their love and friendship. They began dating on December 13, 2001, were married on April 3, 2007, and have been together for over twenty-three loving years. They are high school sweethearts. Nordia and Verrion's relationship exemplified the saying, "Love is a verb and not just a noun." Their love was a testament to unrelenting devotion, support, sacrifice, and compromise. The couples' love would blossom into one more. On November 27, 2013, Nordia and Verrion welcomed their bundle of joy, Aria Wright. Nordia's greatest priority was making her house a warm and loving home. She devoted time to being a doting wife and mother. She was a dedicated homeschooling mom for Aria. Nordia cultivated a creative, interactive learning experience for Aria beyond the traditional four walls of the classroom. You could often hear Aria sharing fond memories of conducting science experiments and field trips around the globe— the world was Aria's classroom.
Nordia was a vibrant woman with many talents and hobbies who exuded positivity and was a light to those who encountered her. She was a professional baker who owned a baking business named Ruby Cakes in honor of her late grandmother. She loved plants and flowers; she had the greenest of thumbs. Alongside her husband, she created a publishing company called Blue Wright Publishing, in which they authored and illustrated children's books. She enjoyed fashion, photography, art, music, dancing, hiking, traveling, baking, and experimenting with new cuisines. Above all, Nordia valued quality time and creating lasting relationships with her family and her dearest friends, showering them with warmth and affection. Nordia was a beloved member of a large, loving, caring family that will sorrowfully miss her. Her family feels her untimely departure, and her spirit and love will forever be etched in their hearts. Her legacy of love and family, her unwavering devotion to her loved ones, and her ability to create lasting bonds will continue to inspire them and keep her enduring presence alive. Norida was preceded in death by her grandparents, Isaiah and Ruby Hazel, and cousins who were more like brothers, Michael Whyte and Corey Simpson. Nordia will be deeply missed by her husband and daughter, Verrion and Aria; her parents, Vancie Hazel and Horace Eldemire; her siblings, Nicole Alleyne, Nicholas Williams, Horace Eldemire Jr., Zoe Eldemire, and Lynkin Eldemire; her aunt, Lauraine Brown, and uncles, Keith and Courtney Hazel; her cousin, Keith Hazle, who is like her brother; and a host of other family, loved ones, and friends.
