Nicholas P. Guardabascio passed away on March 17, 2021, Clara Maase Medical Center in Belleville after a brief illness.
Nicky was born on June 7, 1941 to Frances (Riccio) and Nicholas Guardabascio in Newark, NJ.
Growing up in Bloomfield, Nicky spent much of his time in Belleville at the home of his maternal grandparents where he formed tight bonds with his many cousins.
A graduate of Bloomfield High School. He worked for Essex County until his retirement.
Nicky was a devoted son, loving brother to Louis Guardabascio, who he was incredibly proud of, and an amazing cousin, uncle and friend.
A lifelong dog lover, he lovingly raised and trained his two German shepherds, first Monty and then Rommel, who he was proud to say was “As well trained as Rin Tin Tin.”
He loved going to Atlantic City, was a devotee of horseracing from a very young age and enjoyed spending time at the American Legion and Amvets with his buddies. He was also an avid classic country music fan.
He will be greatly missed by his sister in law Mary Ann Guardabascio, first cousins Mari Ippolito and Patricia Sprague and cousin and lifelong friend Richard Burde, godson Rick Burde as well as nieces and nephews Gina Hayek(Michael), Peter Salvato (Tammy), John Salvato (Patti) and many cousins, great and great great nieces and nephews, and a host of loyal , lifelong friends.
Nicky was predeceased by his parents, Frances & Nicholas and his brother Louis
