Linda Bowers

Linda (Compton) Bowers passed away peacefully on Sunday January 16, 2022 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington, NJ. She was 74. Born on July 24, 1947 in Somerville, NJ, Lynn was the daughter of the late John W. and Agnes (Echoff ) Tinnes. She married Robert B. Compton in 1969 and together they had two children Michelle Lynn and Robert John.

After graduating from North Hunterdon High School in 1966, Lynn became a counselor at IDRC and then a corrections officer for Hunterdon County before retiring from the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office.

She was predeceaced by her husband Bob in 1984, her mother Agnes in 1993, her father John in 2002 and her daughter Michelle in 2006. She is survived by her son Robert and his wife Dana of Bloomsbury NJ and three grandsons Robbie, Joey and Hunter.

Lynn enjoyed horseback riding and loved animals, especially cows. She enjoyed shooting pool and considered herself quite the pool shark. She loved the beach and had many fond memories of Long Beach Island.

A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held at 2pm on Saturday January 29th at Rob and Dana’s home. 589 Sweet Hollow Rd. Bloomsbury, NJ 08804.
