Connie Hannemann

May 17, 1937 — July 29, 2018

Hannemann, Connie (nee Pillipp) 81 passed peacefully, after a brave battle with cancer on Sunday, July 29 in Denville with her children at her side.

Connie is survived by her son Robert and his wife Patricia, of Andover NJ, her daughter Lisa and her husband Ken Gertler, of Pompton Plains, and four grandchildren, Kayla, Michael, Aidan and Matthew; nephew John Beck and his wife Maria, their children Christina and Stephanie of Hillsdale, niece Barbara and her husband Carlos Camacho of NYC. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Walter, sister Barbara and her husband Fritz Beck, as well as many relatives in Germany.

Connie was born on May 17, 1937, one of 12 children born to Hans and Elisabeth (Stossel) Pillip of Burgthann Germany. She emigrated to America at 17 to be with her sister, married the love of her life, Walter in 1963 and aside from a short stay in Florida, lived her entire adult life in New Jersey. Her children’s formative years were spent “Up on the hill” in Butler, where Connie worked as the head cashier at Butler High School, always knew her children’s friends and often their grades before they came home. After 33 years in Butler, Connie moved to Pompton Plains and then settled at The Oaks in Denville.

Connie’s exuberant personality showed in everything she did and she will always be remembered as a loving mother and aunt, and as a doting Oma, whose love could be felt whenever she was around.

She will be laid to eternal rest with her beloved Walter at George Washington Memorial Park in a private ceremony, surrounded by those she loved the most.
